Job Description
RHEST is a Nepali non-governmental organization active since 1993, working to stop violence against women and girls in all its forms, including trafficking, gender-based violence, child marriage, and child labor, with a focus on communities that are often left out of mainstream support. Through education and health projects, RHEST has reached more than 28,000 students across 18-plus districts, helping rural children stay in school and out of harm's way.
RHEST is hiring a Field Officer for its Sindhupalchowk operations. This person will coordinate field activities, run the local contact office, and act as a first line of support for girls at risk of trafficking or early marriage. Strong community ties and a genuine commitment to child protection matter more here than a polished resume.
Key Responsibilities
- Help plan, run, and track the Stop Girl Trafficking (SGT) program on the ground.
- Keep working relationships strong with local government offices, partner schools, School Management Committees, Parent Teacher Associations, and other NGOs in the area.
- Spot skill gaps among Friday Facilitators, alumni groups, and advocacy volunteers, then run training so they can take a more active role in local and district-level campaigns.
- Flag issues affecting girls' education and rights, then organize advocacy work with alumni and partner groups, documenting outcomes as you go.
- Write up field visit reports, case studies, and success stories backed by real data, and help scale up what's working well.
- Build trust with SGT-supported girls and their families, and help connect them to safe housing, counseling, or other support when facing abuse or threats at home.
Job Specification
- Education: Intermediate (+2) in any relevant discipline.
- Experience: At least two years working in community-based settings.
- Skills: Comfortable coordinating with different stakeholders, facilitating groups, and handling basic financial tracking. Ready to work in remote areas with limited infrastructure. Basic computer skills, especially Word and Excel.
- Language: Fluent in written and spoken Nepali. English is a plus. Knowing a local dialect helps too.
- Location Requirement: Full-time, on-site role. Only candidates who permanently reside in Sindhupalchowk District will be considered.
